A RWS Case Study
Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS), a large urban district serving about 77,400 students across 157 schools, faced rapidly growing demand for translations driven by changing demographics and legal requirements for non‑English communications. With no formal translation department, tools, glossaries or workflows in place, bilingual staff were overwhelmed, quality and consistency suffered, and the district risked non‑compliance and legal exposure.
MPS implemented SDL Trados Studio and centralized project management under Christina Green, requiring external vendors to use the same platform and building translation memories and glossaries. The result: dramatic productivity gains and faster turnaround, consistent, legally compliant translations in seven languages, significant cost savings, and the capacity to handle large programs (over 2 million words translated annually, including curriculum and districtwide policy projects).
