A RWS Case Study
HORIBA Medical, part of the HORIBA Group and a leading provider of in vitro diagnostic systems, faced a documentation crisis as rapid growth left a seven-writer team supporting over 13,500 documents in 15 languages. The team struggled with limited content reuse, redundant reviews, expensive desktop publishing for translations, and the need for stronger auditability in a regulated environment.
To scale, HORIBA adopted a topic-based DITA XML approach and implemented SDL Tridion Docs (with XMetaL and Antenna House) to manage structured content, metadata and multilingual workflows. The move to structured authoring and automated publishing eliminated DTP costs, halved translation spend, produced 4,500 source objects and five output formats in two years, and established a “write once, validate once, translate once” process that improved quality, reuse and agility.
