A RWS Case Study
Production is a Belgium-based translation and localization agency (Production) with 10 employees and €2.5m revenue that needed to modernize ahead of a planned sale. When [Name withheld] took over to revitalize the business, the main challenges were low operational efficiency—freelancers mostly worked without CAT tools while the agency relied on Excel and email for terminology and project management—and meeting new GDPR and information-security requirements demanded by customers.
Production implemented SDL Trados GroupShare and the Online Editor, encouraged freelancers to adopt CAT tools via the SDL LSP Partner Program, and centralized translation memories and termbases for real-time use. The changes enabled concurrent translation and review, prevented content downloads to satisfy GDPR-sensitive clients, and gave customers controlled access to language assets. As a result, five project managers now handle over 10,000 projects a year, customer satisfaction and net promoter scores have improved, GDPR-sensitive business was retained, and the company was successfully sold.
