Philips Health Systems’ Patient Care & Monitoring Solutions group was struggling with a slow, error-prone terminology process that relied on spreadsheets and email. Manual steps and limited collaboration meant terminology work lagged behind translation projects, feedback was rare, and inconsistent source and target terms increased rework and translation costs.
By adopting SDL MultiTerm Workflow (integrated with MultiTerm and SDL Trados Studio) and tailoring its workflow, the team moved terminology requests, queries and approvals into a single, collaborative platform. The termbase grew rapidly—about 3,000 submissions and 800 feedback items in 18 months and ~3,500 additions in three years—yielding faster agreement on terms, greater consistency, higher 100% matches, quicker deliveries and better control of translation costs.
