Nielsen adopts a 360-degree approach to the customer experience

Nielsen, a global performance management company that provides media and consumer insights in more than 100 countries, needed to streamline and scale localization across client portals, websites, user interfaces, documentation, eLearning and surveys. Faced with hundreds of files and multiple concurrent projects each week, fragmented authoring tools and limited in‑house resources, Nielsen sought automated, centralized workflows to support launches in up to 64 languages and deliver a consistent 360‑degree customer experience.

Partnering with SDL (now part of RWS) and deploying Translation Management, Tridion Docs and complementary tools, Nielsen created an integrated content hub, automated translation workflows and a company‑wide translation memory while adopting DITA modularization. The result: project throughput increased 750% in five years, 98% of projects are on time or early, 31.6 million words are now translated annually (a 1,500% rise), content reuse improved to 20–80%, time and cost savings of 40–100% and over US$2 million saved—delivering faster launches, greater consistency and a better global customer experience.
