A RWS Case Study
Linde Material Handling, a global manufacturer of industrial forklifts based in Aschaffenburg, Germany, produces operator manuals and technician training materials in 26 languages. As its product range, customization and product-cycle speed grew, the old desktop-publishing process — with writers copying text where they could and translations handled locally — became unsustainable: documentation volume, duplication and costs rose and writers could not keep up.
Linde implemented an integrated solution centered on Tridion Docs CCMS, Arbortext authoring, MultiTerm terminology management and SDL’s Translation Management System, outsourcing translations to a dedicated team. Content is broken into reusable modules, guided by workflow and quality checks (including Acrolinx), and translators receive technical training. The result: translation time cut by ~90%, consistent multilingual output (5–7 million words/year, 26 languages), faster turnarounds (about 10 days vs. months), fewer errors and substantially higher writer productivity, enabling delivery of roughly 130 manuals per year.
