A RWS Case Study
A large Italian bank, part of one of Italy’s biggest banking groups with about 10,000 employees, faced a critical translation challenge: it must exchange regulatory and market information in English and Italian (including frequent reporting to the ECB), but translations were done ad hoc by bilingual staff or external agencies, causing inconsistent terminology, slow turnaround, duplicated effort and coordination problems that risked compliance.
The bank implemented SDL Trados Studio, SDL MultiTerm and SDL Language Cloud MT to capture translation memory, enforce a centralized termbase and use machine translation with post-editing. This delivered up to 50% content reuse on recurring reports, improved consistency, enabled rapid turnaround (an 80,000‑word job completed in two days), saved about €30,000 in one department in a year, and is being extended with GroupShare to centralize projects and resources.
