Case Study: Kingfisher achieves significant localization cost savings and improved translation quality with RWS

A RWS Case Study

Preview of the Kingfisher Case Study

Kingfisher partners with RWS and makes significant savings on localization in core languages

Kingfisher plc is an international home‑improvement retailer operating around 2,000 stores across eight European countries (brands include B&Q, Castorama, Brico Dépôt, Screwfix and Koçtaş). After forming a Group Localization Team in 2016, Kingfisher faced fragmented, manual localization processes across markets with no translation memory or translation management system, leading to inefficiency, inconsistent terminology and quality issues.

Partnering with RWS, Kingfisher implemented Trados Enterprise, Kalcium Quickterm, a managed service with a dedicated project and quality manager, and API connectors to automate workflows and reuse translations. The program introduced MQM quality metrics, stakeholder training and a centralized TM, delivering significant cost savings, streamlined processes and much higher translation quality (up to 99.9% in some languages), while establishing a centralized localization center of excellence.
