Kingfisher cuts localization costs and reaches 99.9% quality with RWS

Kingfisher plc, an international home improvement retailer, faced challenges with inefficient manual localization processes managed separately by its various retail markets. This led to inconsistent terminology, quality issues, and a lack of technology like translation memory (TM) or a translation management system (TMS). To build a new program, they partnered with vendor RWS for its technology and services.

RWS implemented a solution using Trados Enterprise as a TMS and Kalcium Quickterm for terminology management, streamlining workflows with API connectors. This enabled translation reuse, saving significant costs. The partnership, which included an on-site RWS project manager and a quality program based on the MQM framework, resulted in highly efficient processes and translation quality scores of 99.9% for some languages.
