A UK-Based Innovation Consultancy offering front-end innovation and technology scouting services approached RWS to help find specific technical solutions in chemical compositions for one of its end-clients. The end-client needed to identify and acquire complementary technologies to fill capability gaps outside its core specialty.

RWS IP Research delivered a five-week State-of-the-Art (Landscape) Study, using researchers with relevant technical expertise to search patent and non-patent literature and identify organizations active in the target area. RWS identified more than 142 potential solutions, 112 of which the consultancy contacted directly, leaving 30 more for the end-client to review; the consultancy described the outcome as successful and said it would definitely use RWS again.
