A RWS Case Study
George Whitefield College (GWC) is an accredited theological college in Cape Town that runs the Explore correspondence programme to equip untrained pastors across Africa. The eight-module course (each module ~120 pages) needed reliable translations into eight African languages so rural pastors could study in their own contexts, but previous approaches—using volunteer pastors or multiple language suppliers—were slow, inconsistent and hard to manage.
RWS Language Services implemented a managed translation workflow using Trados Studio, translation memories, agreed glossaries, robust QA, DTP and a process to source locally used Bible translations. The result: faster, predictable 3–4 month turnarounds, consistent high-quality materials formatted ready for print, millions of words translated and more than half of the course content completed across all eight target languages—making it easier for GWC to train pastors across the continent.
