A RWS Case Study
ELOT, the Hellenic Organization for Standardization, translates European and international standards into Greek to ensure product safety, compliance and consistency across industries. Faced with recurring terminology across thousands of documents, an Excel glossary proved inadequate, and ELOT was also paying to retranslate whole documents after minor revisions because it lacked a way to compare versions automatically.
ELOT adopted SDL Trados Studio with MultiTerm and GroupShare, built centralized termbases and translation memories from roughly 2,400 existing translations using alignment tools, and deployed a 20‑user network license for internal and external translators. The new workflow delivered about a 25% productivity gain, stronger terminology consistency, easier collaboration with service providers, reduced project‑management overhead, and real‑time access to updated translation assets — with plans to publish the termbases publicly.
