Carbagas AG, a leading Swiss supplier of industrial and medical gases with 350 employees and some 45,000 customers, needed to streamline multilingual communications (German, French, Italian and English) after restructuring its in‑house translation team. The company sought a more open, flexible solution that could be hosted outside its IT infrastructure, allow multiple external providers to connect easily, and support centralised terminology and translation memory integration to cut time and costs and improve consistency.

Carbagas adopted SDL Trados Studio with SDL MultiTerm, migrated roughly 280,000 TM records and 12,000 glossary entries, and now exchanges packaged jobs electronically with external vendors. The new setup enables reuse of previous translations, integration of external terminology databases, simpler QA and terminology management, better formatting results and lower translation time and cost—delivering a smooth, successful changeover and higher translation quality.
