A RWS Case Study
Atlas Copco’s Compressor Technique business unit, a global leader in compressors and air management systems, faced mounting complexity in managing technical documentation for hundreds of customizable models sold across 20+ markets and up to 24 languages. With more than 500 option combinations, rapidly growing content, and manual spare‑parts books, the team struggled with costly desktop publishing and translation, slow updates, and the risk of customers ordering incorrect parts.
The unit adopted Tridion Docs with a DITA topic‑based approach (integrated with Arbortext, Antenna House Formatter and Translation Management) to author, conditionally assemble and publish content on demand. The change eliminated DTP costs, cut translation costs by ~20%, boosted efficiency by ~50%, reduced incorrect spare‑parts orders, and enabled instant, personalized manuals via serial‑number lookup—improving customer satisfaction while lowering production and localization costs.
