A RWS Case Study
Philips Healthcare, a global leader in medical devices, needed to localize the software, voice prompts and user interface for its new advanced defibrillator/monitor into 21 languages (including eight it had never translated before) to meet regulatory and user-experience requirements. The company sought a faster, lower-cost solution that would reduce internal resource involvement while preserving high-quality, consistent translations.
Philips partnered with SDL’s testing center and integrated SDL Passolo and TMS to centralize testing in a customized lab where translators could verify strings in context. The approach delivered strong results: over 50% project cost savings, about a 40% reduction in overall project time and roughly 35% less verification time, while improving translation consistency and maintaining high localization quality.
