A RWS Case Study
Otto Christ AG, a family-run German manufacturer of car-washing systems with about 1,400 employees and customers in some 50 countries, faced rapidly growing multilingual documentation needs as its product range and export business expanded. Managing technical manuals, operating instructions and in-house software in 33 languages had become costly and slow: documentation formats and terminology were inconsistent, translations were duplicated, quality suffered, and localization of operator terminals was especially time-consuming.
Otto Christ implemented SDL Trados Studio with SDL MultiTerm and SDL Passolo and worked with a central translation vendor using shared translation memories and terminology. The result: translation costs fell while throughput increased, job creation and QA became much faster, consistency and quality improved, software localization is simpler thanks to WYSIWYG tools, and a single employee can now manage translation workflows for all 33 languages.
