Deakin University Student Association (DUSA) faced fragmented, paper‑and‑spreadsheet volunteer processes across multiple campuses that couldn’t meet the expectations of a tech‑native student body. With more than 50,000 enrolled students (about 27,000 on campus) and roughly 2,000 involved in volunteering, DUSA’s recruitment, rostering and record‑keeping were inconsistent and labour‑intensive, so Student Engagement Manager Lee Emberton sought a centralised digital solution from Rosterfy’s end‑to‑end volunteer and staff management platform.
DUSA implemented a white‑labelled Rosterfy portal to centralise recruitment, rostering and automated communications, making it intuitive for students and reducing duplicate records and manual admin. The result: volunteering engagement doubled within six months (about 350 students used the portal so far this year), improved retention and cross‑stream participation, and significant staff time savings—freeing staff to focus on higher‑value projects. Rosterfy’s platform delivered both measurable growth and operational efficiencies for DUSA.
