Case Study: Watford Community Housing achieves a 9% increase in employee engagement with Reward Gateway

A Reward Gateway Case Study

Preview of the Watford Community Housing Case Study

Young HR apprentice increases employee engagement at not-for-profit organisation

Watford Community Housing, an 800‑employee housing organisation, faced low employee engagement—particularly among off‑site staff who felt undervalued—and a low survey participation rate (33.7%) despite a +43 NPS. Libby Wadkins, an HR apprentice, was tasked with overhauling the benefits and engagement approach and worked with Reward Gateway’s employee engagement platform and services (including recognition, discounts and benefits, and Total Reward Statements) to better communicate and deliver value to staff.

Using Reward Gateway’s design support and platform, Libby rolled out a targeted communications plan, benefits booklets, care packages, personalised mailings and creative TRS launch activity to demonstrate “we care” to frontline teams. The initiative lifted engagement by 9% and survey participation to 59.2% (a 25.5% increase), earned Libby internal awards and recognition, and helped Watford Community Housing win an Engagement Excellence award.
