Case Study: Nottingham Trams achieves 67% employee app adoption and Investors in People accreditation with Reward Gateway

A Reward Gateway Case Study

Preview of the Nottingham Trams Case Study

Public transport organisation uses unique communications to engage remote workforce and achieve Investors in People accreditation

Nottingham Trams, a public transport organisation with 288 largely remote employees, was struggling with low engagement and poor access to workplace benefits—an issue that threatened their goal of achieving Investors in People accreditation. To address this, Nottingham Trams partnered with Reward Gateway to consolidate discounts and salary-sacrifice schemes (including Cycle to Work and Childcare Vouchers) into a single Employee Mobile App branded as EmMA to better reach their predominantly male, remote workforce.

Reward Gateway implemented a centralised benefits hub with single sign-on integrated into the EmMA app and supported a targeted communications launch. The results were rapid and measurable: 67% of employees downloaded and registered within four weeks; 97 of 129 tram drivers logged in during month one (up from 19 on the old intranet) and 112 were actively engaging after a few months (~80%); uptake of Cycle to Work and Childcare Vouchers increased, and Nottingham Trams achieved Investors in People accreditation.
