A Reward Gateway Case Study

National charity promotes web inclusivity by launching a new accessibility statement for online discounts platform

The Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB), a national not‑for‑profit with about 2,300 employees, needed its online discounts platform to be fully usable by staff and beneficiaries with a range of visual impairments. Because many RNIB employees rely on assistive technologies like screen readers and keyboard navigation, the organisation partnered with Reward Gateway to make their employee discounts portal accessible so users could independently find and use benefits regardless of visual acuity.

Reward Gateway conducted accessibility testing and implemented targeted fixes—ensuring screen reader compatibility, keyboard-only access, adequate font size and line height, higher contrast ratios, image ALT text and WCAG 2.0 compliance—and published accessibility statements outlining alternatives and contact routes. The result is an inclusive discounts platform that supports RNIB’s mission, makes disabled visitors feel welcomed, and helps the charity deliver benefits to its workforce and the wider community (noting there are 12 million disabled people in the UK and many sites still fail accessibility standards); Reward Gateway’s work demonstrably advanced both organisations’ commitment to social responsibility.
