How Southern Tier Health Care System transformed its community using RGER’s Wellbeing+ app

Southern Tier Health Care System is a rural health network focused on improving community health and wellbeing beyond its own workforce. In February 2025, it wanted a way to promote healthier habits and extend participation to the wider community across the three counties it serves in New York, so it worked with Reward Gateway and its Wellbeing+ app.

Using Reward Gateway’s Wellbeing+ app, STHCS launched activity tracking and monthly wellbeing challenges, promoted through social media and supported by raffle prizes, educational content, and group chat. The effort helped drive engagement, including 58 participants in the May Step Challenge who synced over 8.3 million steps and 121 new friendships formed through the app, while also helping STHCS share events like blood drives and car seat safety checks.
