Hotel group launches discounts and communications platform for remote staff, resulting in 75% engagement

Hand Picked Hotels, a collection of 21 country houses and spa resorts, needed a way to unite hotel-based staff who often lack computer access, improve company-wide communications and refresh their employee discounts to strengthen their Employee Value Proposition. To solve this, Hand Picked Hotels partnered with Reward Gateway to replace their previous provider and create a new employee engagement platform called “The Hive.”

Reward Gateway delivered The Hive with staged feature rollouts — employee discounts, a newsfeed, blogging tools and peer-to-peer recognition (eCards and a “Wow Wall”) — plus launch campaigns to drive adoption. The results included 920 active users and nearly £52,000 spend after three months, 427 eCards sent, a 75% engagement rate, a 4% increase in retention after six months and a £12,000 reduction in recruitment and advertising costs, with Reward Gateway’s platform now producing monthly engagement reports for management.
