Discovery Communications, the world’s #1 nonfiction media company with 5,000 employees, faced the challenge of attracting, motivating and retaining top creative talent in a competitive, youth‑skewed industry and aimed to become one of the Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For. To support that objective, Discovery partnered with Reward Gateway and rolled out an engagement platform and discounts programme (Discovery Deals) across its UK and US workforces beginning in November 2012.

Reward Gateway delivered a branded, tailored discounts hub and broader engagement/wellness portal, backed by targeted communications (posters, emails, Yammer teasers) and localised rollouts. The initiative drove strong adoption—72% of UK employees registered within a year and 50% of US employees signed up within six months—featured 800+ retailers, and contributed to Discovery Communications being named one of only two media companies in the 2014 Fortune Top 100 Best Companies to Work For.
