Kona Grill Reduces Costs 1.5%

Kona Grill, a national restaurant chain with 30+ locations, was struggling to manage perpetual inventory using Excel spreadsheets and lacked a recipe module or POS integration, making it difficult to pinpoint portioning errors, waste, and shrinkage. Restaurant365 was brought in to replace those spreadsheets with a centralized inventory and operations platform integrated with Kona Grill’s Aloha POS to provide real-time recipe and inventory visibility.

Restaurant365 rolled out its solution across Kona Grill locations, enabling theoretical vs. actual inventory comparisons, Hot Counts, and Inventory Count Variance Reports so managers could find and fix variances and hold staff accountable. The implementation drove measurable results — an average 1.5% reduction in cost of goods sold per store (about $15,833 per store) and more than $300,000 chainwide, with one store achieving a 4.2% reduction and an average three-month payback on the Restaurant365 investment.
