A Rekor Systems, Inc. Case Study

How North Dakota State Parks uses Rekor's tech to discern visitor patterns

North Dakota Parks and Recreation Department needed a better way to understand visitor patterns and plan for future park needs across its 19 destinations. Its existing inductive loop traffic detectors and manual counting methods were outdated and inaccurate, often missing bicycles and motorcycles and double-counting vehicles with trailers. Rekor Systems, Inc. provided its Real-time Traffic Analytics application within Rekor One Traffic Management to automate visitor tracking.

Rekor Systems, Inc. first piloted the solution at three parks and then expanded it across all NDPRD properties after strong results. The system uses Rekor Edge Series hardware and a web-based dashboard to deliver accurate, real-time vehicle counts and movement analytics, helping park managers track visitation and compare counts against manual methods. With more reliable data, NDPRD can now produce clearer reports for state budget meetings, support funding requests, and plan staffing and resources more effectively.
