TELUS’ Optik TV service gains greater reliability with Active-Active Redis

TELUS, the provider behind Optik TV, needed a more reliable way to support its mission-critical Showcase application after experiencing an outage while using Redis open source. The failure disrupted customer-facing menu options and took a full business day to recover, exposing gaps in availability and failover for a service that delivers personalized TV content to more than 1.5 million customers.

TELUS migrated Showcase to Redis Enterprise from Redis, gaining Active-Active geo-distribution, stronger failover protection, and enterprise support. With Redis, TELUS achieved zero-downtime recovery during a later server-link failure, and customers never noticed the incident. The platform also helped TELUS meet its two-second load performance SLA and improved operational reliability across its DevOps processes.
