Case Study: Proximus achieves real-time public safety and low-latency data processing with Redis

A Redis Case Study

Proximus powers public safety services with a real-time data

Proximus, a telecommunications provider focused on public safety and emergency services, needed a way to handle huge volumes of mobile signaling traffic while storing accurate location data in real time. Its existing SQL-based systems were too slow for the demands of services like emergency response, law enforcement requests, and government reporting, so it turned to Redis for a low-latency data solution.

Redis deployed clustered databases on virtual machines across Proximus data centers, enabling always-on high availability and millions of operations per second. The result was major performance gains across applications such as crowd management, BeAlert RTLS, and location-based tracking, including throughput of up to 878,000 ops/s and latency as low as 0.9 ms, improving public safety, emergency alerts, and caller-location accuracy.
