Talkspace, a New York–based leader in online mental health therapy, needed to automate repetitive conversations like patient onboarding to reduce costs during rapid growth while protecting sensitive data. Standard cloud NLP services (e.g., Dialogflow, LUIS) could not meet their HIPAA privacy and hosting requirements, so Talkspace selected Rasa to build an in‑house AI assistant for onboarding.

Using Rasa, Talkspace deployed a contextual dialogue assistant on their HIPAA‑compliant on‑prem/cloud infrastructure that links to backend APIs to fetch user profiles and carry natural, empathetic conversations. In just a few months they rolled out the assistant to automate onboarding, free therapists to focus on care, and lower user acquisition costs, with plans to expand the assistant’s capabilities based on real user conversations. Rasa enabled the privacy-first, accurate automation they required.
