How Lemonade uses Rasa to automate internal processes and drive automation with their bot, Cooper

Lemonade, a NYC‑based insurance tech company, needed to scale its engineering operations without simply hiring more people and to automate repetitive internal workflows while keeping control of sensitive data. To meet this challenge the company evaluated customizable, integratable AI tooling and chose Rasa, using Rasa’s machine‑learning framework to build an in‑house automation assistant that could plug into existing tools and workflows.

Using Rasa, Lemonade built Cooper, an internal automation “brain” that interacts over Slack to assign tasks, prepare test environments, run automated tests, deploy updates, and assist with sprint planning and branding requests. Rasa’s platform enabled significant time, cost, and headcount savings, faster development and deployment cycles, and helped drive Lemonade’s broader push toward an autonomous organization — supporting the company as it insured roughly half a million homes as of April 2019.
