The Lacombe and District Music Festival Association is a non-profit in central Alberta that provides educational and performance opportunities for young artists (ages 3–19) through an annual festival and year-round workshops. After nearly 40 years of anecdotal feedback, a retrospective review revealed they were not accurately sampling changing client needs and lacked a rigorous, reproducible system for gathering insights.
Partnering with QuestionPro’s nonprofit program, they launched an online survey in 30 days and achieved a 62% response rate, uncovering preferred communication methods and building trust with performers. Insights drove venue changes, a redesign of awards ceremonies, and an increase in educational and performance opportunities from 2,500 to 3,865, with initial feedback strongly positive and plans to expand mobile surveys going forward.
