Case Study: CSIRO achieves scalable, accurate offline community data collection for Local Voices with QuestionPro Offline Surveys

How CSIRO hears Local Voices without network connections

CSIRO, Australia’s national science agency, ran the Local Voices program with Rio Tinto to gather confidential community feedback across the Pilbara and other regions. The project faced logistical challenges—remote locations, unreliable internet, and lower literacy that required in-person data collection—so they needed a reliable offline survey solution.

CSIRO (now managed as Voconiq by Naomi Boughen) implemented QuestionPro Team Edition’s offline mobile app on iPads and Android devices, allowing offline data capture and later sync. Setup was smooth, the system scaled to more collectors and regions with no sync or security issues, eliminated transcription errors, improved data accuracy and community engagement, and supported expansion to other countries.
