University of Texas at Dallas - Customer Case Study

The University of Texas at Dallas, led by Professor Karl Ho in the School of Economic, Political and Policy Sciences, conducts comparative politics research on topics such as student political engagement across China, Vietnam, South Korea and India and Nigerian reactions to Chinese aid. The team faced steep learning curves with previous tools, limitations of paper and face‑to‑face surveys for advanced designs (filtering, conditioning), a need to empower students to run independent studies without large grants, a small initial contact pool, and tight time constraints.

Using the Qualtrics Research Suite, Professor Ho’s team quickly built advanced, personalized online surveys, leveraged social networking to expand reach, and managed panels and conditional logic with ease. The project yielded over 150 responses from about 70 initial contacts, was created and fielded in under a week, and produced usable results in two days — a 95% reduction in research time — while enabling university‑wide access to an enterprise survey platform and greatly increasing student research capacity.
