A Qualtrics Case Study
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Single Fathers Due to Cancer program, founded by Drs. Donald Rosenstein and Justin Yopp, supports men who become sole parents after losing a partner to cancer. To shape a standardized, scalable intervention and better understand fathers’ needs, Teresa Edwards at the Odum Institute ran surveys but faced limitations with their previous tool: no safe way to replace questions without corrupting past data, limited personalization and skip logic, poor panel management, and no consistent university-wide solution.
Adopting Qualtrics Research Suite let the team swap survey modules without jeopardizing existing data, personalize surveys with piped text, match the website’s look, and give stakeholders real-time access. The platform was integrated into campus single sign-on and covered under a university-wide license, enabling collection of responses from more than 300 fathers, lowering costs and IT overhead, and empowering researchers to run independent studies.
