A Qualtrics Case Study
UCSF School of Medicine’s educational research team, led by analyst Jason Wang, conducts studies on teaching methods (including a study comparing iPad-based learning to traditional textbooks). The team struggled with their previous survey tools—poor GUI, cumbersome survey creation, clunky question editing, and limited export/share capabilities—which slowed research and made collaboration difficult.
By adopting the Qualtrics Research Suite, UCSF can build and revise surveys in hours, reorder questions with drag-and-drop, use piped text and branching, and export surveys and data (e.g., to SPSS) for easy collaboration. The change cut survey-creation time by 30%, supported a university-wide license for 1,600 users, and materially improved productivity and flexibility across projects.
