A Qualtrics Case Study
Jackson College, a Michigan community college and Achieving The Dream leader, faced a persistent equity challenge: male students of color have the lowest undergraduate completion rates nationally. Although the school offered supports like a Multicultural Center and mentorship programs (Men of Merit, Sisters of Strength), it lacked actionable, individualized data about incoming students’ life circumstances, making it difficult to intervene proactively.
By deploying Qualtrics Experience Management, Jackson automated enrollment surveys that create a concise “Student Story” for each student, giving mentors and advisors an immediate, holistic view of background, challenges, and goals. The approach enabled personalized outreach from day one, saved hundreds of hours in manual research, doubled Men of Merit participation, and improved student engagement and retention.
