A Q-nomy Case Study
Q-nomy worked with Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, one of the largest acute teaching trusts in the UK, to address problems in its outpatient blood-taking service. NUH needed to cut waiting times and patient abandonments, introduce dynamic staff load‑balancing, and improve patient communications (including multilingual messaging) to enhance overall patient experience.
Q-Flow was deployed in Q4 2010 to manage patient flow and integrate with NUH’s systems. The solution automated blood-label printing, provided touchscreen PCs in treatment bays with Oracle integration, and enabled data-driven staff scheduling and multilingual on-screen messaging. Results included peak wait-time reductions of up to 50%, no waits off-peak, fewer patients leaving before service, improved staff efficiency and positive patient/staff feedback, with further benefits from integration with hospital-wide appointment systems.
