Project by Project, the volunteer organization behind the annual Plate by Plate tasting, faced the challenge of managing high visitor traffic and complex reservations for a large-scale fundraising event. To streamline check-ins and seatings for dozens of restaurants and nearly 500 typical attendees (over 300 in 2017), Project by Project engaged Qminder’s queue/reservation management service, including SMS notifications, to improve guest flow and communications.
Qminder implemented a managed reservation workflow for the event’s four seated chef tables (5–6 rounds of 20-minute tastings with 15 guests per round), with staff entering reservations and Qminder sending timely text alerts and updates. The result: smooth, reliable seatings during the 20th anniversary Plate by Plate event, reduced staff workload, on-time notifications to guests, and a noticeably better visitor experience — in short, Qminder made the reservation system manageable and freed staff to focus on hospitality.
