The City of Surrey, British Columbia’s rapidly growing municipal government that serves more than 8,000 visitors each month, needed to replace an outdated ticketing system with a modern, affordable queuing solution that provided real-time, actionable statistics without requiring host servers or heavy IT overhead. The city selected Qminder’s cloud-based queuing solution (ticket printers, Smart TV displays and the Qminder dashboard accessed via Chrome) to meet those needs.
Qminder was deployed across the new city hall with two ticket printers, three Smart TVs and the web dashboard, getting the city up and running within days with no extra hardware or hosting required. The Qminder system made customer interactions easier and engaged visitors, let clerks learn the system quickly, and—most importantly—delivered precise, real-time statistics so Surrey can adjust staffing ratios and improve service delivery while keeping costs down (serving 8,000+ monthly visitors); the city only declined Qminder’s name-based feature due to provincial privacy laws.
