A Puppet Case Study
NatWest Group, a major banking institution founded in 1727, faced inefficient manual processes that slowed its digital transformation. Their server provisioning was hampered by shell scripts, manual checks, and a lack of visibility, causing production delays. To eliminate these inefficiencies and speed up software delivery, NatWest turned to Puppet for automation and infrastructure-as-code.
Implementing Puppet's automation tooling allowed NatWest to manage configuration for around 600 servers. This solution drastically reduced production SLAs from two weeks to three days and cut new build production issues from an average of 201 to just 4. As a direct result of using Puppet, the bank achieved £7 million in cost savings by automating manual server provisioning tasks.
