University Builds Change Capability to Help Execute New Strategic Plan

The University of California, San Diego faced significant organizational changes impacting 12,000 staff and faculty as part of a new strategic plan. Leadership recognized a weakness in managing change and needed a scalable methodology that could work across diverse projects and stakeholders. After trying another approach, the university partnered with Prosci to address this challenge.

Prosci provided its Change Management Certification and Train-the-Trainer programs, which were customized for the university's large-scale, forum-style training needs. The solution included role-based training, coaching, and resources that were rolled out across the campus. As a result, Prosci helped the university equip its staff, with over 90% of 500+ forum attendees reporting satisfaction and gaining applicable tools. Change management became embedded in the campus culture, leading to early project successes and catalyzing a national community of practice for change management in higher education.
