NewPage, a leading North American producer of coated printing and specialty papers (about 3.5 million tons annually across eight U.S. mills), needed to standardize fragmented pricing processes and gain better visibility into prices to stay competitive as demand shifted and manual data gathering slowed decision making.

The company deployed the PROS Pricing Solution Suite running natively on Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 (using Analysis Services, Reporting Services and PowerPivot), implementing Scientific Analytics, Price Optimizer and Deal Optimizer modules. The centralized solution standardizes data from multiple sources, delivers faster insights to roughly 300 users, processes about 20,000 transactions daily, improves price guidance for sales, speeds decision making and helped NewPage capture margin-improvement opportunities while leveraging familiar Microsoft tools for easy adoption.
