Ropes & Gray, a global law firm founded in 1865 with 1,200 attorneys across multiple offices, faced a complex client-fee management problem: 6,000 active billing accounts (2,000 with unique arrangements) were tracked across three manual spreadsheets, renewals could take up to three months, and there was no pricing tool or centralized place to manage non-core enterprise data. To address this, Ropes & Gray engaged Profisee to apply a master data management (MDM) / data management application approach to their contracts, employee, and project domains.

Profisee implemented a centralized data management application to replace manual pricing processes, create a single repository for billing arrangements, and enable business-owned data stewardship instead of IT-led builds. As a result, Profisee eliminated the spreadsheet process, achieved an 84% reduction in time to renew billing arrangements (greatly improving billing timeliness and customer satisfaction), and enabled Ropes & Gray to roll out four new data management applications using only data stewards.
