The Government of Barbados Modernises its National Procurement System with PROACTIS

The Government of Barbados needed to modernise its national procurement system to improve transparency, reduce processing time and secure better value across an annual spend of about $1.5 billion, roughly 16,000 suppliers and 310,000 invoices per year. Seeking a commercial off‑the‑shelf eProcurement platform that could handle supplier management, electronic tendering and contract management while integrating with its SmartStream finance/ERP, the Government selected Proactis to deliver the solution.

Proactis implemented its Source‑to‑Contract eProcurement suite, integrated with SmartStream, and delivered a national supplier master file and central repositories for supplier and contract data within five months. The Proactis solution automated supplier onboarding and questionnaire scoring, enabled online RFx/tendering, removed paper‑based workflows and linked contracts to transactional data—resulting in standardised documentation, faster and more auditable processes, improved compliance and greater competitive sourcing across government.
