A Proactis Case Study

Preview of the Wolseley UK Case Study

PROACTIS Helps Wolseley UK Ltd Gain Control And Visibility Of Indirect Spend Across 1,500+ Locations

Wolseley UK, the UK arm of one of the world’s largest building‑materials distributors with over 1,500 branch locations and £3bn+ revenues, faced uncontrolled indirect spend, maverick buying and no visibility of commitments — finance often only saw costs when invoices arrived. After a KPMG audit and a business case from Head of Indirect Procurement Zoe Matsell, Wolseley UK selected the Proactis purchasing solution on a subscription hosting model to introduce governance, workflow and authorisation controls for indirect procurement.

Proactis configured and rolled out its eProcurement system across ~1,900 users and 1,500+ locations, adding punch‑out buying, OCR invoice scanning, PO/invoice auto‑matching and daily approved payment file feeds. The deployment cut active suppliers from ~26,000 to just over 5,000, reduced Accounts Payable workload, moved expense accruals to continuous processing, and provided real‑time commitment visibility — delivering projected savings of over £2.5m in the first three years and materially improved control and spend visibility for Wolseley UK.
