How Massage Envy used PI’s Hire and Inspire solutions to improve hiring and retention across a massive franchise network

Massage Envy Spa, a high-growth franchise with over 1,000 locations, faced the challenge of hiring quickly while ensuring strong job fit across its therapist, esthetician, and sales roles. New Chief Learning Officer Susan Landgraf brought in The Predictive Index and its assessments — notably the PI Behavioral Assessment and the PI Job Assessment (PRO) — to help franchisees identify and hire the right people and to build a consistent hiring and development approach.

Using The Predictive Index’s assessments and workshops, Massage Envy Spa defined role-specific job profiles, streamlined hiring, and trained franchisees to use PI data for coaching and conflict resolution; more than 100 franchises adopted the PI Behavioral Assessment. The results included one franchisee’s sales close rate rising from 12–13% to 27%, resume review volumes falling by about 50–60%, and clearer role definition and improved team communication across franchise owners.
