Case Study: Corangamite Shire Council achieves rapid map updates and staff self‑service with Precisely's Spectrum Spatial

A Precisely Case Study

Preview of the Corangamite Shire Council Case Study

Staff delighted when Western Victoria council moved quickly to adopt web-based GIS

Corangamite Shire Council, supported by IT/GIS Officer Ben Stephenson, needed a faster, more user-friendly way to share location-based data after staff found the old client/server GIS and publishing workflows slow and hard to use. The council chose Precisely’s web-based Spectrum Spatial to let more employees self-serve maps and spatial data instead of routing requests through GIS.

Precisely’s Spectrum Spatial was deployed quickly—Stephenson migrated required datasets in five days and integrated the platform with the council’s CRM, property rating, finance and asset management systems. The result: widespread adoption (including customer service staff who handle nearly 39,000 calls a year), greatly reduced maintenance time (Stephenson now spends one to two days a week on the system), and faster updates—maps refresh in about 30 seconds—improving responsiveness and daily decision-making across the council.
