Getinge North America, a leading supplier of equipment and services for cleaning, disinfection and sterilization of medical instruments, needed to let employees run reporting and analytics without degrading transaction response times on its IBM i/Db2 Power Systems platform. Reporting and analytics were straining disk I/O and CPU when run against production systems, so Getinge sought a way to provide real‑time query access on the platform users prefer while preserving operational performance. Precisely’s data replication solution, Connect, was selected to address this challenge.

Precisely implemented Connect to replicate data in near‑real time from Getinge’s ERP Db2 on IBM i to Microsoft SQL Server on Windows, using table, column and row filtering to replicate roughly 120 North American tables only. The result: analytics and reporting run against an up‑to‑date copy without impacting transaction processing, enabling more complex analysis and secondary applications, while requiring virtually no day‑to‑day management. Precisely’s platform‑agnostic replication preserved production performance, kept data current, and delivered measurable operational relief by offloading heavy queries from the live systems.
