EU Bank - Customer Case Study

EU Bank, a Europe-based banking and wealth-management firm operating in over 50 countries, needed to bring mainframe machine data into Splunk Enterprise to improve IT operations analytics (ITOA). Their home-grown solution could only sample SMF record types and required time-consuming manual extraction and Excel-based analysis, lacked real-time monitoring, couldn’t handle USS logs or additional SMF types, and did not support the required capacity of up to 20 GB per day from as many as 34 LPARs. To address these gaps they evaluated Precisely’s Ironstream for Splunk.

Precisely implemented Ironstream to provide real-time access to mainframe data within Splunk, eliminating manual Excel processes and expanding the range of SMF records and USS logs available for analysis. As a result, EU Bank gained consolidated dashboards for error and performance monitoring, improved visibility into IMS performance metrics (CPU consumption, transaction counts, CPU delays, response times by IMS class), enabled real-time views of client-facing applications, and improved cost control and reduced MTTR while supporting large-scale data forwarding (up to 20 GB/day).
