Efficiency and Community Engagement Drive Online Mapping for Burwood Council

Burwood Council, the local government serving about 38,000 residents in Sydney’s inner-west, needed to increase community engagement and make local information (bike paths, parks, parking, services) easily accessible while reducing call-centre and front-office enquiries. The council turned to Precisely, a long-term partner, and adopted its Local Government Enterprise Program using MapInfo Pro and the Spectrum Spatial web-mapping service to deliver secure, hosted public maps and self-service tools.

Precisely implemented Spectrum Spatial and MapInfo Pro as an integrated, hosted solution, adding intuitive interactive maps and a Find My Nearest 24-hour self-service portal to the council website and managing updates, security and backups. The solution let staff share GIS data internally and integrate with other systems, greatly reducing call-centre and front-desk requests, saving time and money, and improving responsiveness and community access to services.
