Crowley Maritime Attains Enterprise Wide Data Access with Precisely Connect

Crowley, a global leader in marine solutions and logistics, needed to modernize decades of IBM mainframe applications and Db2 data to migrate to a cloud-based architecture without porting hundreds of custom programs. The complexity of over 300 legacy mainframe applications—where agents sometimes had to query as many as 17 systems—threatened performance and scalability, so Crowley turned to Precisely and its Precisely Connect product to bridge mainframe data into the cloud.

Precisely implemented Precisely Connect to provide change data capture (CDC) from Db2 into Crowley’s cloud pipeline (Cloudera on AWS, Kafka/NiFi) and Snowflake for analytics. The solution enabled real-time streaming of mainframe data, freed mainframe processing (eliminating heavy nightly reports), delivered unified end‑to‑end visibility and customer reports as frequently as every two hours, and supported chargeback-based data governance — driving significant IT cost reductions and better control over compute and storage.
